About Project Koku
About Project Koku
Koku is an open source cost management platform for clouds, containers, and hybrid environments. It is the upstream project for Red Hat Lightspeed Cost Management.
Koku identifies, reports, and analyzes cost data across a wide range of infrastructure sources — enabling enterprises and sovereign cloud providers to gain visibility into costs, optimize resource usage, and integrate financial data with their billing, ERP, and business intelligence systems.
The Name
Koku (石), in Japanese, is a unit of measure for the amount of rice sufficient for one person for one year. Masu (枡) is a square wooden box used for measuring rice — and more recently, for drinking sake.
Along the themes of measurement and management of resources, the Koku logo depicts a masu box measuring the rice cloud.

The logo was designed by tigert.
Community
Koku is open source and open for contributions. Everyone is invited to connect, ask questions, give feedback, and collaborate.
